Ms. Janet M Geddes

Ms. Janet M Geddes has been a member of the Board of Supervisors of Azizi Bank since July 2019. She is a highly experienced international finance and insurance professional with extensive experience of change management, restructurings and turnarounds, including as a director on boards and also chair of audit committee of both listed and private companies in several countries. She had also held senior line management positions with Big 4 accounting firms.

With a background in banking and real estate, she has specialized in corporate and regulatory governance, business and financial restructuring, cross-border asset recovery, NPL management and recoveries, contentious insurance cases, export credit insurance/trade finance, business and asset valuations, restructuring of financial institutions, corporate governance, SME lending and recovery, project and infrastructure finance.

Ms. Geddes also has extensive experience on banking in Western and Eastern Europe, as well as in Asia, and in setting up and running Asset Management Corporations (AMCs). Her work has also extended to buying and selling NPL portfolios, valuation of NPL portfolios and assessment of appropriate methodologies for managing and disposing of NPLs.

She has worked in several difficult jurisdictions, including India, Afghanistan, China and Ukraine and most recently has been the International Advisor on a project to assess the needs of the insurance regulator (GDIA) in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Ms. Geddes also has qualifications in corporate governance and regulatory compliance, including capital markets intermediaries, as well as in dispute resolution and asset valuation. She has previous experience as Banking Advisor and Team Leader for the New Kabul Bank as well as Consultant to Lucheng Rural Commercial Bank, Shanxi Province, China. She also has exposure in the Liquidation of loans and other financial assets of the Thailand operations of Lehman Brothers Asia and as an EBRD-funded consultant at Parex Bank, Latvia, with management responsibility for staffing and training, cross-border recoveries, portfolio review and restructuring and recovery of non-performing loans.

Mr. Fazel Hadi Fazel

Mr. Fazel Hadi Fazel brings over 12 years of extensive experience in internal auditing, governance, and financial oversight across diverse industries and sectors. Currently serving as an Independent Audit Committee Member at Azizi Bank since 2018, Mr. Fazel plays a pivotal role in ensuring robust corporate governance, monitoring financial performance, and strengthening internal controls, risk management, and audit functions within the bank.
In his illustrious career, Mr. Fazel has held notable leadership positions, including Group Head of Internal Audit at Moby Group, Deputy Auditor-General of Afghanistan, and Head of Internal Audit at the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF). He has also served as a trusted consultant for international organizations like The World Bank, USAID, and ICARDA.
Mr. Fazel's achievements reflect his unwavering commitment to fostering transparency and accountability. As Deputy Auditor-General, he spearheaded reforms to enhance public sector governance and successfully revised Afghanistan's Audit Law to elevate the independence and efficacy of the national audit framework. His leadership has also led to the institutionalization of internal audit standards in major public and private entities, setting benchmarks for performance and compliance.
A Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Mr. Fazel holds a Master of Business Administration from the American University of Afghanistan and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Kabul International University. He is also the founder and former President of the
Afghanistan Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (lIA), where he worked extensively to advance the internal audit profession in the region.
Through his volunteer contributions and consulting roles, Mr. Fazel has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to developing professional expertise in internal audit, risk management, and fraud
prevention, earning him recognition as a leader in his field.

Dr. Ahmad Shah Zamanzai

Dr. Zamanzai is a qualified management professional having Doctorate in Economics from Moscow University and MBA from the same University. He has immense experience in working in leadership positions in Government sector like Ministry of Finance as Director General, Independent Election Commission as CEO and Afghanistan Revenue Department as Director General apart from other senior level positions.

Dr. Zamanzai has complete command over banking sector having leadership role as CEO of Pashtany Bank between 2013 and 2016.

Since change of regime he has also obtained experience as Head of Operations for prestigious Afghan corporate entity Habib Gulzar Ltd.

He fluently speaks Russian and English apart from native Pashto and Dari. He has also obtained international level trainings from prestigious institutions in Germany, Singapore and Lebanon apart from Russia.

With the above skill set, Dr. Zamanzai brings immense value addition to AZB Board of Supervisors.

Abdul Wahid Dilawar

Abdul Wahid Dilawar is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) with over 11 years of experience in audit, accounting, and fund management. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University (UK), with a thesis analyzing UK corporate governance in the Patisserie Valerie case. As an ACCA member with an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business, he brings expertise to Azizi Bank’s commitment to excellence.

Mr. Dilawar started at KPMG in Afghanistan as an Audit Trainee and Associate, later becoming Audit Senior at EY, where he strengthened his skills in international auditing and financial reporting standards. He advanced to Audit Manager at Afghanistan Holding Group and then joined Certified Professional Accountants Afghanistan (CPA Afghanistan) as a Quality Assurance Reviewer. Promoted to Head of Quality Assurance and Professional Conduct, and later Acting CEO, he upheld high audit standards. He also taught ACCA courses part-time at the American University of Afghanistan.

Internationally, Mr. Dilawar worked as a Senior Fund Accountant at Alter Domus in Cork, Ireland, managing portfolios for JPMorgan, Civitas Investment Management, and Brook Lane Capital across the UK, Luxembourg, Sweden, and Cyprus. He conducted external audits for Irish insurance firms and credit unions, showcasing his expertise in global financial standards. As a member of the South Asian Federation of Accountants’ Audit Committee, he has supported regional professional standards.

Currently, as Senior Audit Staff at Xeinadin in the UK and Ireland, Mr. Dilawar contributes deep knowledge of corporate governance and compliance. At Azizi Bank, he serves as an Independent Member of the Audit Committee, ensuring strong internal controls and ethical banking practices. His proficiency in international auditing and financial reporting standards supports Azizi Bank’s transparent operations.

Fluent in English, Pashto, Dari, French, and Urdu, Mr. Dilawar excels in clear communication and stakeholder engagement. His diverse experience in banking, finance, and non-profit sectors, paired with a dedication to mentoring, drives Azizi Bank’s success. His professional, results-focused approach fosters trust and delivers meaningful outcomes for clients and communities.

Mr. Ahmad Khalid Habibi

Mr. Habibi brings 14 years of senior leadership experience in the banking sector, with strong expertise in Credit, Financial Management, and Internal Audit & control frameworks. At Azizi Bank, he has served in pivotal roles including Deputy Chief Internal Auditor, Deputy CEO, and Acting CEO, demonstrating exceptional governance and operational leadership.

Mr. Mohammad Naweed Yosofi

Mr. Yosofi is a seasoned professional with more than 15 years of experience in Risk, Audit, Fraud, Finance, Compliance, and Banking. His expertise covers policy-making, risk management, internal controls, and strategic financial planning.

He has served in key leadership roles, including Chief Risk Officer at Azizi Bank and Director of Risk & Compliance at Save the Children Afghanistan. His knowledge and insights will greatly strengthen the Board’s oversight mandate.
